Navy apprehends a suspicious boat with 4 persons in Northern waters

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Naval personnel attached to the Northern Naval Command apprehended a suspicious dinghy with four persons on-board Thursday (01) in the sea area north of Kankesanthurei. The suspects were spotted found travelling close to the IMBL and when inspected on suspicion failed to provide valid fishing passes. Further investigations reviled that the dinghy was neither registered.

Along with the suspect, the dinghy, an outboard motor, a magnetic compass, a small anchor and a piece of fishing net were taken into naval custody. The apprehended suspects and equipment were handed over to the Jaffna Assistant Director of Fisheries for onward investigations.
