US cadets undergo weapons, field practices, physical training, in Sri Lanka

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – A contingent of 33 US Army Cadets, led by four members of the directing staff undergoing training at the US Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (AROTC) are now in Sri Lanka on a fortnight-long familiarization tour.

During their stay in Sri Lanka, those US Cadets in Diyatalawa are expected to undergo an initial training in weapon handling, field practices, physical training, and attend several lectures, organized by the Sri Lanka Army until 7 June 2017.

AROTC is the US Army component of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) and ROTC with the largest segment of Cadets in all major US universities under 273 programmes, has been well recognized.

Those Cadets will visit the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA), Security Force Headquarters – West, Regimental Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Engineers, Sri Lanka Light Infantry Headquarters and the Army School of Artillery at Minneriya during their sojourn in Sri Lanka.
