(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Floods have been reported in several areas due to the Gin and Nilwala rivers reaching spill levels.
Rising water levels of the Gin River has resulted in floods in Baddegama, Thawalama, Nagoda, Welivitiya and Divitura in Galle District.
The Army, Navy and Air Force are engaged in rescue operations in Galle, Kalutara, Matara and Hambantota districts deploying special boats and helicopters.
