President launches a book on ‘Buddhist Ideals of Good governance’ – [Images]

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Launching ceremony of the book titled ‘Buddhist Ideals of Good governance’ was held yesterday (16th Jan.) under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.

The book was written by the Director of Religious Affairs of UNESCO headquarters, a professor at Sorbonne University, France Ven. Thampalawela Dhammarathana Thero and a professor at the same university Prof Francois Chenet, on the request made by President Sirisena to write a book on the Buddhist ideals of the good governance to show the world about the importance of this concept.

Speaking at the launching ceremony the President said it is not an easy task to implement the concept of the good governance in a society that is deviated far away from the good governance concept. “Everybody should be committed to win this challenge through working according to the concept of good governance”, he said.

President Sirisena was presented with the first copy of the book. He also launched the book on the internet.

Most Ven. Davulden Gnanissara Nayake Thero, Ministers Gayantha Karunathilaka, Wijayadasa Rajapakshe, Arjuna Ranatunga, Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media Nimal Bopage and the Director General of Government Information, Dr. Ranga Kalansuriya also participated.
