Navy apprehends 2 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing

(UDHAYAM, MANNAR) – Naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command apprehend two local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing using unauthorized fishing nets on Tuesday (23) in the Mundampiddi beach area.

Along with the fishermen, a dinghy, 10 kg of illegally caught fish and an unauthorised fishing net used for fishing practices were taken into Naval custody.

The arrested fishermen and their fishing gear were handed over to the Fisheries Inspector-Mannar for onward legal action.
