Nursing Lecturer allowance increased by Rs 10,000

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Permission was given to increase the allowance of Nursing Lecturers who are attached to Nursing Schools in the country by Rs. 10,000. At present they get an allowance of Rs. 10,000 and will be increased to Rs. 20,000.

Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr. Rajitha Senaratne said that one of the problems in developing nursing education was the issue of salaries.

Minister Senaratne said that at present there are about 168 lecturers and his aim is make the profession of nursing well recognized.

He made these comments on 13th May at Sri Lanka Foundation at a ceremony held to commemorate the International Nurses Day held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.

He also said that the increased overtime allowance will be paid from 1st January 2016.
