Buddhism important to make the world a better place-President Sirisena

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Buddhist philosophy is important to create a better society by solving issues in the world and to make the country a better place said President Maithripala Sirisena.

He made these comments today (12th May) addressing the 14th UN vesak Day and the World Buddhist Summit. It is important to commemorate a vesak week based on the UN Vesak Day I am happy to address this gathering today where Prime Minister Modi is the Chief Guest.

PM Modi has brought the message of vesak said President Sirisena.He said that the solution for the economic,social, political, and cultural problems in the world is buddhist philosophy.

Buddhist philosophy helps to solve fights, to make good human beings and illuminate the lives of human beings President Sirisena said that during the tenure of President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga requested late Lakshman Kadirgamar to present a resolution the UN to make Vesak an International holiday. As a result from 2005 Vesak is celebrated at UN headquarters

To promote Buddhism in the western world not only Western Philosophers but western philosophers too have done the same.
