(UTV | COLOMBO) – The All-Island Canteen Owners’ Association has decided to reduce the price of a packet of rice and other food items by 10 percent from tomorrow.
President of the Association Asela Sampath said the price reduction comes after the decrease in prices of several commodities including flour and chicken.
Asela Sampath meanwhile requested authorities to ensure that adequate food stocks are available in the market at concessionary rates.
Meanwhile, the All Island Bakery Owners’ Association has also announced that it is considering revising prices of bread and all bakery products following the reduction of wheat flour prices.
A special discussion will be held with the participation of representatives today.
