Ranjan turned away from BIA

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Former Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake was turned away from the Bandaranaike International Airport by Immigration and Emigration Department officials on Friday (28) morning.

Airport Immigration and Emigration said the former politician was turned away based on a court order barring overseas travel.

Ranjan Ramanayake speaking to News 1st said that an overseas travel ban was imposed on him with regard to case filed over the distribution rice during the COVID-19 pandemic era.

Ramanayake said the case was concluded and the overseas travel ban was lifted, however the relevant agencies had not been informed of the matter.

He said that action will be taken on Friday (28) to resolve the matter, adding that he was to fly to the United States .
