Another persons arrested over the Rs.2.1 million robbery in Moratuwa

(UTV | COLOMBO) -Two persons were arrested previously over the robbery in Moratuwa.

The Police Media Division said the arrested duo assaulted a worker of a shop in Moratuwa who was transporting a sum of more than Rs.2.1 million to be deposited to a bank and had stolen the cash.

The incident was reported on the 4th of October.

Officers attached to the Mount Lavinia Police on the 22nd of October arrested the duo in Ratmalana.

A van, a three-wheeler, a motorcycle and a sharp weapon were also seized from the suspects’ possession.

The duo, aged 45 and 50 are residents of Ratmalana and Mount Lavinia.

Meanwhile, yesterday a 63-year-old from Moratuwa has been arrested in relation to the incident.

Police said officers also recovered Rs.100,000 and a motorcycle from the suspect’s possession.

He is scheduled to be produced before the Moratuwa Magistrate’s Court.

The Mount Lavinia Police is conducting further investigations.
