(UTV | COLOMBO) – Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera says the Ceylon Electricity Board will reduce the duration of power cuts over the weekend.
The Minister attributed the decision to the increase in hydro power generation and the low energy demand.
Minister Wijesekera said if rains persist in catchment areas, the CEB will maintain power cuts at a minimum.
He noted that the CEB will manage water resources available for future power generation.
Sri Lanka has been experiencing torrential rain over the past few days with landslide warnings also issued by the National Building Research Organisation.
CEB will reduce the power cuts during the weekend due to increase in hydro generation & low energy demand. If rain continues to the catchment areas, CEB will keep the power cuts to a minimum. However CEB will manage the water resources available for future power generation.
