Light vehicles unable to use the Welipenna exit due to flooding

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Road Development Authority says the Welipenna interchange of the Southern Expressway is impassable for light vehicles due to flooding.

The Expressway Operation Maintenance And Management Division of the Road Development Authority said due to heavy rains in the area, several roads have been inundated.

Accordingly, motorists have been requested to use alternative roads to enter and exit the Southern Expressway.

Motorists exiting the Southern Expressway have been requested to use the Kurundugahahetekma and Dodangoda interchanges.

Meanwhile, the Department of Meteorology says the low-level atmospheric disturbance still persists in the vicinity of the island and therefore it expects cloudy skies in most parts of the island.

The Met Department said showers or thundershowers can be expected at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and North-Western provinces.
