Fees for issuing National Identity Cards increased

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Fees to issue and amend National Identity Cards have been increased with effect from the 1st of November.

The Department for Registration of Persons will accordingly charge Rs. 200 to register and issue a National Identity Card for a first-time applicant.

Previously Rs. 100 was charged from first-time applicants.

The gazette in this regard has been issued by the Minister of Public Security.

Meanwhile, a fee of Rs.1,000 will be charged to issue a duplicate National Identity Card in place of those that have been stolen or misplaced.

Furthermore, from the 1st of November, the fee to amend the details of the National Identity Card will be Rs.500.
