T20 World Cup: Sri Lanka’s warm-up game against Ireland abandoned

(UTV | MELBOURNE) – Sri Lanka’s second warm-up match against Ireland ahead of the Twenty20 World Cup has been abandoned without a ball being bowled in Melbourne.

The game was scheduled to be played at the Junction Oval in Melbourne.

Sri Lanka on Tuesday comprehensively beat Zimbabwe in the first warm-up game by 33 runs at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium.

Sri Lanka posted 188/5 in the 20 overs and then restricted Zimbabwe to 155/5.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka, the 2014 World T20 Champions, will take on Namibia in the World Cup opener on the 16th of October.

The Group A encounter is scheduled to take place in Geelong at 9.30am Sri Lanka time.
