(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Department of Meteorology says the showery condition is expected to enhance to some extent in the south-western part of the island today and in the next few days.
The Met Department predicted showers at times in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
Several spells of showers will occur in the North-Western province.
It added showers or thundershowers can be expected at a few places in the Uva province and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the evening or night.
Strong winds of about 50 kmph have also been predicted over the western slopes of the Central hills, Northern, North-Central and Southern provinces and in the Trincomalee district.
Meanwhile, the general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
