Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa on the electricity tariff hikes

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa said that the society is facing an uncomfortable and stressful situation due to the program conducted in the country in order to restructure the economy.

He said the unwillingness of the Government to look at the electricity tariff hike, and corruption that have taken place over many years have now been felt by the people and even the religious leaders.

A group of religious leaders, including the Buddhist Clergy had met at the Opposition Leader’s Office to discuss the arbitrary increase in electricity bills.

He said that the government has not even taken steps to implement the social security net properly.
