China’s Yuanwang-5 space-tracking vessel comes home

(UTV |  BEIJING) – China’s Yuanwang-5 space-tracking ship returned to its home port in east China’s Jiangsu Province after finishing two maritime measurement and control tasks during its 69-day voyage.

It sailed over 14,000 nautical miles and completed its missions of monitoring the Wentian lab module of China’s space station and the Yaogan-33 02 remote sensing satellite.

The ship overcame various difficulties brought on by bad weather and complex oceanic conditions. Yuanwang-5 has worked at sea for over 110 days this year. During its stay in home port, the ship will be resupplied and refitted for future missions.
