Parliament to re-open public gallery today

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Parliament is scheduled to re-open the public gallery today.

The first sitting day of the second sitting week of September is scheduled to begin at 9.30am.

Last week, the Committee on Parliamentary Business decided to approve the proposal made by the Serjeant-at-Arms to relax restrictions currently in place pertaining to entering the Parliamentary Complex and the Galleries.

As a preliminary step, it was agreed to allow parties who request to visit Parliament, including school children, on days when there are no parliamentary sittings.

Accordingly, with effect from 20th September, 2022 school children will be allowed to visit the Parliamentary Complex on Non-Sitting days from 9.30 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. (except holidays)

School authorities have been instructed to submit applications to the Serjeant-at-Arms by directing a letter, a Fax (0112777473/ 0112777335) or by applying online via www.parliament.lk.
