Validity period of driving licenses to be extended

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Temporary driver’s licences that were previously valid for six months will now be valid for a full year.

The Department of Motor Traffic said in a statement that the general public should visit either the Werahera Office of the Department or District Offices to extend the validity period of licenses.

Meanwhile, the Motor Traffic Department has announced that steps have been taken to issue driving licence cards only to new licence holders planning to leave overseas.

The Department added that it is expecting a stock of 450,000 licence printing cards to arrive in the country in the next few weeks.

License printing cards have been purchased from an Australian company.
