“Road House” remake begins filming

(UTV | UNITED STATES) – Amazon Prime Video’s reimagined take on 1989 cult classic “Road House” has officially begun production in the Dominican Republic.

The film’s star Jake Gyllenhaal and director Doug Liman posted for a photo from the first day on the set with the first clapboard seen in Liman’s hands.

Gyllenhaal stars as a former UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys. However, he soon discovers that everything is not as it seems in this tropical paradise.

Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier and Gbemisola Ikumelo co-star along with UFC champion Conor McGregor. Joel Silver, who produced the original, returns for the new take which hasn’t set a release date as yet.

Patrick Swayze, Kelly Lynch and Sam Elliott starred in the original film which was set in Missouri.
