China to provide part of the school uniform requirement

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The government of China has agreed to provide part of the school uniform requirement for the year 2023.

The decision was reached according to a request made by the government.

Meanwhile, the government has announced that it intends to purchase the remaining amount of fabric required from local fabric manufacturers.

The Cabinet of Ministers granted approval to the Cabinet paper tabled by the Minister of Education in this regard.

School uniforms for 2023 must be distributed to schools prior to the end of the 2022 school year.

Speaking during the weekly Cabinet media briefing, Cabinet Spokesman Minister Bandula Gunawardena said for the year 2024, the Cabinet reached a decision to provide a voucher for the purchase of uniforms instead of providing school uniforms.
