RajKummar Rao starrer ‘HIT: The First Case’

(UTV | INDIA) – Dr. Sailesh Kolanu remakes his own Telugu film under the same name, ‘HIT: The First Case’. However, the idea behind remaking the film is a better reach, especially in the Hindi-speaking belt.

Vikram (RajKummar Rao), a celebrated officer, works at Homicide Intervention Team (HIT) and is dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Neha (Sanya Malhotra) is in charge of the forensic lab. The two are in love, but there’s no sign of them taking the plunge as Neha disapproves of Vikram’s job. Their lives hit hard when Vikram and Neha both get trapped in a missing case of a girl named Preeti. What happens next is the unravelling of bitter truth.

‘HIT: The First Case’ is surely a sincere thriller which has apt drama, romance and a taut screenplay. Dr. Sailesh Kolanu remains successful in keeping his grip on throughout the film.

The biggest rather only flaw of the film is its climax. It is not worthy of the hype the plot creates in 136 minutes. The moment suspense unleashes, it feels like a rerun of a cheap ‘Crime Patrol’ episode. His writing creates tension in the film, which makes the film watchable.

RajKummar Rao never fails to impress as an actor. With each film, he shines out as a solid actor. Sanya Malhotra is pleasant and does her job honestly. Although her minimal screen time might disappoint you, it all goes with the flow of the film.

Shilpa Shukla is a surprise in the film as she plays a significant role. Frankly, she is a visual delight. Dalip Tahil, Milind Gunanji and the rest of the secondary cast fit into their parts well.

‘HIT: The First Case’ is definitely not a forgettable remake but could have been much more entertaining if the director could have developed a relevant ending.
