Occupied public property to be returned to state

(UTV | COLOMBO) – All government buildings including the President’s House, President’s Office, and Prime Minister’s Office occupied by those involved in Public Protests (Aragalaya) will be returned to the state.

Swasthika Arulingam representing the Aragalaya at a press conference on Thursday (14) morning said that over the past few days protestors have remained peaceful, and the occupation of the property have been peaceful.

“We have decided that we will withdraw from most of these properties except the Old Parliament, and the Galle Face space, because people have gathered at the Old Parliament to send a very clear message not only to the executive, but also to the legislature,” she added.

Swasthika Arulingam was flanked by several other key figures of the Aragalaya including Rev. Fr. Jeewantha Pieris.
