Pakistani President emphasizes on enhancing cooperation with Sri Lanka

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – President Mamnoon Hussain has emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation between Pakistan and Sri Lanka for peace and stability in the region, the Radio Pakistan reported.

He was talking to Chief of Army Staff of Sri Lanka Lieutenant General A.W.J.C De Silva who called on him in Islamabad on Thursday (04).

The President said both countries enjoy cordial ties and support each other on international fora.

He stressed that cooperation in trade, education, culture and defense needs to be further strengthened.

Mamnoon Hussain said the exchange of delegations between the two countries will help explore new vistas of cooperation.

He apprised the Sri Lankan Army Chief of Indian atrocities in Occupied Kashmir.

The President said Pakistan is the pivot of Buddhist Gandhara civilization and this can help promote religious tourism between the two countries.

On the occasion, the Sri Lankan Army Chief said Sri Lanka attaches great importance to relations with Pakistan and is desirous of further enhancing bilateral cooperation.
