Number of Dengue cases increase

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The National Dengue Control Unit said that there has been a rapid increase in the number of dengue patients in the last few weeks.

The Director of the National Dengue Control Unit Dr. Sudath Samaraweera said that 6,684 dengue patients were identified in May.

He also told that 512 dengue patients have been reported in the first two days of June.

Specialist Dr. Samaraweera further said that 27 high-risk medical divisions have been identified where dengue is spreading rapidly.

He said that 24,717 dengue patients have been reported so far this year.

Specialist Dr. Samaraweera said that dengue mosquitoes can be prevented from breeding by keeping the surroundings clean.
