(UTV | COLOMBO) – Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe responded to Opposition Parliamentarians Harin Fernando and Manusha Nanayakkara on Tuesday (17).
The Prime Minister has assured the resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa snd has stated that the same will be decided after discussion with party leaders. But in the meantime, he expects to implement the 21st amendment to curb the power of the Executive Presidency. A special committee headed by Parliamentarian Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe PC is already looking into it.
The Prime Minister extended his fullest support for the investigation into the attack on ‘GotaGoGama‘. He stated that he has ordered the Inspector General of Police to hand over a weekly report regarding the progress of the investigation to the Speaker of the House.
According to the Prime Minister, a National Policy is also expected to be formed under the National Council, while the Attorney Generals’ department and the Police Department will be made independent institutions.
The Prime Minister also stated that he is willing to bring in foreign investigators to assist with the investigation into Easter Attacks.
