‘Govt. bowsers will be used if private sector strikes’

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Minister of Energy and Power Kanchana Wijesekera says the Ministry will use government bowsers and bowsers of fuel stations, if private fuel transporters go on strike.

Taking to twitter to address concerns over a probable strike of private fuel transporters, the Minister said fees for private fuel transportation services have been revised five times since July 2021.

The Minister pointed out that fees were increased by 84% using a formula agreed by all, during the past 10 months.

In his tweet he explained that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation currently uses government owned bowsers, fuel station owner’s bowsers and privately hired bowsers to transport fuel all over the country.

In the event private transporters decide to go on strike, Minister Wijesekera said the government would use the other two sectors to continuously deliver fuel.
