Milk powder prices are also likely to rise

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The price of imported milk powder will increase next week, said Ashoka Bandara, media spokesman for the Milk Importers Association.

He said the milk powder stock was depleted and the imported milk powder stocks would be reclaimed next week.

Accordingly, the relevant price revisions will be discussed and the prices will be announced as soon as the stock of milk powder is available, he added.

The price of imported milk powder was increased on March 19 and accordingly the price of a 400 gram milk powder package was Rs. 250 and the union had taken steps to increase the price of 1 kg packet to Rs. 600.

At present, a 400 gram packet of milk powder costs Rs. 790 and it is also noteworthy that a 1 kg packet costing Rs.1945 is being sold.
