Mominul urges pacers to step up as Bangladesh eye Test success

(UTV | BANGLADESH) – Mominul Haque has called his fast-bowling troika of Ebadot Hossain, Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam to step up as the visitors hope to extend their winning run on the tour of South Africa into the Tests.

“No matter what wicket we play on, we need to bowl in a process and put pressure by bowling in the right places,” Mominul said on the eve of the first Test. “If you want to win Tests abroad, then pace bowlers need to perform because if they can bring early breakthrough it helps a lot,” he added.

“Even in New Zealand (where Bangladesh won their maiden Test in Mount Maunganui) there were lot of runs but at the end pacers picked most wicket,” he said.

Bangladesh head into the Test series with high level of confidence having just won a historic ODI series. Mominul admitted his team is buoyed by the recent success but warned against complacency.

”Naturally your confidence is high after winning the ODIs series but at the same time we need to remember that it will be red-ball cricket and there is difference”.

“We are starting from the scratch in red-ball cricket and we need to do what we did in New Zealand and need to make sure we don’t repeat the mistake that we have done there,” he said.
