Presidential Address at the BIMSTEC Summit

(UTV | COLOMBO) – President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa addressed the BIMSTEC Summit this morning.

The president called for protection against religious fundamentalism, terrorism and drug trafficking.

He also noted that the economy of the Bay of Bengal region is a driving force for the global economy.

The Government of Sri Lanka is hosting the 5th BIMSTEC Summit on the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multidisciplinary Technical and Economic Cooperation in Colombo.

The summit, chaired by the President of Sri Lanka, is being held for 3 days from today.

Leaders of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal and Thailand have virtually participated.
