All Party Conference to be commenced today

(UTV | COLOMBO) – An All Party Conference is due to get underway today at the Temple Trees, under the patronage of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, to find solutions to the prevailing economic crisis.

The All Party Conference was called following a request made by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party when the party recently met with the Head of State.

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, United National Party, Tamil National Alliance and the Sri Lanka Mahajana Pakshaya, which is a party affiliated with the government, will attend the All Party Conference.

However the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, National People’s Power, Tamil Progressive Alliance, Sri Lanka Muslim Congress and All Ceylon Makkal Congress decided to boycott the conference.

Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara and Parliamentarians Wimal Weerawansa and Udaya Gammanpila who represent 11 parties affiliated with the government will also boycott the conference.

Instead two representatives from all 11 parties will attend the conference.

Meanwhile the Ceylon Workers’ Congress and the Thamil Makkal Thesiya Kuttani (TMTK) led by Parliamentarian CV Wigneswaran will also boycott the conference.
