(UTV | UNITED STATES) – Universal Pictures has become the latest of the five major US studios to pause their theatrical releases from Russia following the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.
Specifically, Universal has pulled planned openings of Dreamworks Animation’s “The Bad Guys” in late March and Michael Bay’s “Ambulance” in April.
The move follows in the wake of Warners, Sony, Paramount and Disney all halting their upcoming theatrical releases in Russia.
Netflix also made a statement on Monday saying it would decline to carry state-run Russian TV channels on its streaming service despite a recent local law requiring them to do so.
