(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association claims private bus services will be disrupted by tomorrow, owing to the prevailing fuel crisis in the country.
President of the Association Gemunu Wijeratne said the bus industry is incurring great losses at present as a result of having to be in queues for several hours during the day to obtain fuel.
Wijeratne said they expected the Sri Lanka Transport Board to supply fuel adding however they have not received fuel thus far.
He said paying Rs.2,500 for a driver and Rs.1,500 for a conductor only for them to be in a fuel queue the entire day was costly adding it is more profitable to leave buses at home.
He noted buses currently in operation will also run out fuel by tomorrow.
Wijeratne said incidents were reported where buses had to leave without fuel after being in queues the whole day while some only receive a small amount of fuel.
