‘One Country One Law’ Task Force term extended

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The term of the Presidential Task Force on “One Country, One Law” has been extended by three months from yesterday.

The Presidential Task Force for “One Country, One Law” was established by the President on the 26th of October, 2021.

The 13-member Task Force headed by Ven. Galagodaththe Gnanasara thera has been vested with powers to study the implementation of the concept; One Country, One Law within Sri Lanka and prepare a draft Act and study Acts and amendments that have already been prepared by the Ministry of Justice and also to determine if there are suitable amendments and submit proposals as deemed appropriate.

Accordingly, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa issued an Extraordinary Gazette notification extending the term enabling the Task Force additional time to seek the views of the public and the panels of experts covering all the provinces.

The Task Force members are expected to complete the tasks assigned to them within the next three months with an appropriate action plan.
