(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Sri Lanka Transport Board says the government intervened to provide the required stocks of fuel for SLTB buses promptly, in order to provide public transport services in a continuous and stringent manner.
The SLTB said discussions were held with the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation regarding necessary steps to provide the stocks of fuel that were ordered, promptly.
Deputy General Manager of SLTB Panduka Swarnahansa said discussions were held in case of a shortage adding however SLTB depots have sufficient fuel stocks at present.
While admitting there was a delay in obtaining fuel stocks recently, Swarnahansa said fuel will be provided to buses at the nearest depot if there is a shortage in any depot.
He added orders are placed every other day for diesel, while nearly 4,750 buses are in operation at present.
He noted therefore public transport services will be provided in a continuous manner, without inconveniencing passengers due to the prevailing fuel shortage.
Swarnahansa said the CPC agreed to provide its support if an issue arises regarding fuel.
