Sri Lanka meets payment obligations for fuel shipment

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka had made a payment of $35 Million USD to the Singaporean company for 37,500 MT of diesel.

Shipment of fuel had arrived on 21st February, but the country could not meet payment of $35 Million USD, for the same due to a shortage of FOREX.

A high-level Cabinet meeting chaired by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa was held yesterday (22), and subsequently the requisite dollars were allocated for the clearance of fuel shipments, according to Ministers who remarked to the media after the meeting.
