Seven local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing nabbed by the Navy

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – A group of naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command together with the officials of the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries (ADF) in Mannar apprehended 7 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing activities using explosive in the seas of South Bar, Mannar on Tuesday (02).

During the arrest; 2 dinghies, 4 unauthorized nets, 6 diving masks, 6 pairs of diving fins and a catch of 2,210 kg of fish were taken into naval custody. The arrested fishermen and their belongings were handed over to the Mannar ADF for onward investigations.
