President to chair a special Cabinet meeting today

(UTV | COLOMBO) – A special Cabinet meeting chaired by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is scheduled to be held today to discuss the prevailing fuel and power crises in the country.

The decision was taken during last evenings’ weekly Cabinet meeting and will be held at the Presidential Secretariat this afternoon.

Governor of the Central Bank Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance SR Attygalle, and a group of high-ranking officials are expected to attend the meeting today.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Finance informed that officials attached to the Ministries of Power and Energy will also attend the special Cabinet meeting.

The issues that have arisen regarding the importation of fuel due to the dollar crisis were also discussed at length during yesterday’s Cabinet meeting.
