Bus owners predict price revision

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The All Island Private Bus Owners Federation says they will have to reopen talks with the Ministry of Transport over increasing bus fares, if the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation increases fuel prices.

General Secretary Anjana Priyanjith said they are holding talks on a possible course of action, if CEYPETCO diesel prices increase.

Priyanjith said the Lanka Indian Oil Company has already made revisions to fuel prices.

Therefore, he added private buses have strategically reduced the purchase of diesel from Lanka IOC filling stations.

Priyanjith said private bus owners have not agreed to hold off on price revisions, when fuel prices are increased by suppliers.

In the event prices are increased, the General Secretary warned the industry will not be able to handle the increase in cost.
