Parents call for State Minister Fernando, to resign

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Government Medical Students’ Parents Association said State Minister Arundika Fernando, who they claim is responsible for the unrest at the Medical Faculty of the Kelaniya University in Ragama, should resign from his post of State Minister and also as a Member of Parliament.

Media Spokesman Wasantha Alwis said Arundika Fernando’s statement that a ragging incident led to the clash was false adding it was a failed attempt at a kidnapping.

Alwis said Arundika Fernando must apologise to the public and charged him of trying to cover up the incident and as a temporary measure temporarily resigned.

Alwis added Fernando’s son also misused state property.

He claimed Fernando prior to his son’s arrest put up pretences before media and when the law was enforced, put on another façade and temporarily resigned from his State Ministerial post.
