Govt to allocate Rs. 40 billion to pay compensation for farmers

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to allocate Rs. 40 billion to provide compensation to farmers for crops damaged during the 2020 Maha season.

The Cabinet paper was presented by Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage.

Speaking during the weekly Cabinet media briefing at the Department of Government Information today, Minister Aluthgamage said the compensation will be provided under the Rs. 229 billion relief package recently announced by the government.
