CEB Engineers’ Union to launch Sick Leave Campaign

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Engineers’ Union has decided to refrain from services on Tuesday (Jan. 18), by reporting sick.

“The trade union action will be launched at 9:00 AM today (18). All the CEB Engineers excluding those assigned for Shift Duties at the Power Stations will join the ‘Sick Leave Campaign’,” Dhammika Thilaratne, the Secretary of the CEB Engineers’ Union said.

According to Thilakaratne, the trade union action is being carried out citing several unlawful actions by the Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board including the appointment of the new General Manager, in violation of the legal provision.

“The CEB Engineers’ Union is demanding that this new General Manager appointed in violation of the CEB Act should be removed from the respective post immediately,” Dhammika Thilaratne emphasized.

Dhammika Thilaratne noted that further steps will be taken according to the response of the relevant authorities to today’s Sick Leave Campaign.
