Priority to be given to electrical vehicles when importing vehicles

(UTV | COLOMBO) – President Gotabaya Rajapaksa states that priority will be given to electric vehicles when permitting the importation of vehicles in the future.

He was speaking at the commencement of the second session of the 9th Parliament while presenting the Government Policy Statement.

The President stated that unpopular decisions such as suspending the import of vehicles and refraining from importing non-essential items had to be taken due to the prior knowledge of a foreign exchange problem.

Accordingly, renewable energy sources should be planned for use in supplying electricity to vehicles, he said.

Inaugurating the second session of the 9th Parliament, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa stated that during his tenure he will not allow human rights violations to take place and urged all politicians to refrain from provoking the public based on petty political agendas.
