Sri Lankan cricketer Danushka Gunathilaka announces his retirement

(UTV | COLOMBO) – It is reported that Sri Lanka national cricketer Danushka Gunathilaka has decided to retire from Test cricket.

He had handed over the letter of this decision to Sri Lanka Cricket last week.

Danushka Gunathilaka has been banned from playing international cricket until June this year after being found guilty of violating a bio-bubble during a tour of England in June last year.

Danushka, who has played eight Tests for Sri Lanka so far, has scored 299 runs with two half-centuries.

In his letter to Sri Lanka Cricket, Danushka Gunathilaka stated that he would like to continue playing limited-overs cricket.

Accordingly, he has stated that he is willing to give his maximum contribution to the national team for 50 overs and 20 overs matches.

Danushka Gunathilaka, 30, has further stated in the letter that he is retiring from Test cricket to maintain his fitness for limited-overs cricket.
