Risk of Dengue increased in 15 Districts

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The National Dengue Control Unit says that the risk of Dengue has increased in about 15 districts so far.

Accordingly, Director of the National Dengue Control Unit, Dr. Sudath Samarasinghe said that steps will be taken to appoint a special officer to remove mosquito breeding places at every institution.

Dr. Sudath Samarasinghe said that measures should be taken on the legal front to eradicate Dengue, since certain instructions issued by the authorities are not followed by the people.

He said as per the current legal provisions, unoccupied places cannot be inspected for Dengue breeding grounds, and in the future steps will be taken on the legal front to address these shortcomings.

According to the National Dengue Control Unit, the number of Dengue patients has doubled during the months of November and December last year.
