Three drown in Hanwella : One body recovered

(UTV |  RATNAPURA) – Search operations have uncovered the body of a 16-year-old girl out of the two girls and a youth who was reported missing while bathing in the Kumari Ella Falls in Hanwella.

Police said authorities together with locals are conducting search operations to find the remaining duo who drowned.

Police said the incident was reported around 6.45 pm yesterday.

Police said the two girls and the youth had drowned when the water levels of the Fall had risen due to the sudden rain experienced in the area.

They were bathing in the Kumari Ella Falls with another group.

The child and youth who are still missing were revealed to be residents of Hendala and Jaffna.

Police together with the Sri Lanka Army and area residents continue search operations for the missing girls.
