Power outages expected in several parts of the island today

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Due to a fault in a generator at the Norochcholai power plant, it has been decided to cut power for about 45 minutes a day.

The Ministry of Power and Energy stated that the power outage will take place several days until the repairs are completed, and the machinery is restored.

The power outages are expected to take place between 6:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

However, the Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Engineers’ Association Saumya Kumara Manawadu stated that there is a continuous oil leak from the generator which has caused this fault.

He also stated that as the power generation has been temporarily suspended, there could be a power outage to maintain the balance of the system.
