School transport fares to be increased from January

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The President of the All Ceylon School Children Transport Association Malsiri de Silva says they have decided to increase school transport fares from next January in view of the increase in domestic fuel prices.

Malsiri de Silva said they are unable to increase fees at present since the school term ends on the 23rd of December.

He said they reached a decision to increase school transport fees from the 3rd of January onwards as the price increase of one litre of Auto diesel by Rs.10 caused great inconvenience.

de Silva said many other goods and services will also increase in line with the fuel price revision.

The President of the Association urged the government to always reconsider prior to increasing prices of goods and services such as diesel.

He said they are hopeful that the government will provide some relief adding however it was very unlikely.
