Yugadanavi agreement: Court hearing adjourned till tomorrow

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Hearing of the Fundamental Rights case against the Yugadanavi power plant deal at the Supreme Court adjourned until 10am tomorrow (17).

The petitions were taken up before the five-judge bench chaired by Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya and consisting of Buwaneka Aluvihare, Priyantha Jayawardena, Vijith Malalgoda and L.T.B. Dehideniya.

The petitions have been filed by Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith Thero, Ven. Elle Gunawansa Thero, General Secretary of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya Ranjith Madduma Bandara, Member of the Political Bureau of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna Wasantha Samarasinghe and Secretary of the Ceylon Electricity Board Ranjan Jayalal.

Ministers Wimal Weerawansa, Udaya Gammanpila and Vasudeva Nanayakkara had recently filed their written submissions in the Supreme Court in support of these petitions.
