Health regulations issued for Adams Peak devotees

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Regulations have been imposed for devotees who visit Adams Peak during the pilgrimage season owing to the coronavirus pandemic.

Accordingly, devotees are expected to have the coronavirus vaccination card or a copy of the card.

Ratnapura District Secretary Malani Lokupothagama issued a gazette notification citing a series of regulations to be followed by devotees during the Adams Peak pilgrim season.

The pilgrimage this year will commence on the 18th of December and will conclude on the 16th of May next year.

The regulations issued by the District Secretary claims that pilgrims should not arrange or maintain temporary accommodation.

The Lihinihela Palabaddala Temple, Haramitipana, Adiyamalatenna, Warnagala, Seethagagula, Medahinna, Indikatupana rest houses and lodges can be used as accommodation.

The construction of shops without the approval of an authorized officer has also been banned.

Begging has also been prohibited in surrounding areas.

Wearing face masks, and social distancing is mandatory while pilgrims have been advised against resting at the Adams Peak courtyard.
